Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Cost Manager to join their team based in Stevenage, supporting the delivery of projects across their UKPN framework. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused professional to manage multiple utility and infrastructure projects, ensuring robust commercial control throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the commercial and contractual aspects of multiple projects valued between £1m and £4m.
- Oversee cost management, forecasting, valuations, and final accounts.
- Administer contracts and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
- Monitor project performance against budgets and financial targets.
- Manage change control procedures, compensation events, and variations.
- Provide accurate commercial reporting to senior management.
- Support project teams with cost advice and commercial guidance.
- Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders throughout project delivery.
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities and implement mitigation strategies.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor or Cost Manager within utilities, power, energy, civil engineering, or infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding and practical experience of NEC3 Option A & C contracts.
- Experience managing projects with values ranging from £1m to £4m.
- Excellent commercial acumen and contract administration skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience working on UK Power Networks (UKPN) contracts or frameworks.
- Background in power, electricity distribution, or network infrastructure projects.
- Professional membership or working towards a recognised commercial qualification (RICS/CICES or similar).
