Overview
We have a current opportunity for Senior Project Planner on a contract basis. The position will be based in Newport. This is a hybrid opportunity with 3 days on site.
Role Overview: One of our clients are seeking an experienced Senior Project Planner to support a live National Grid (NG) substation project. This is a key role within a high-profile energy infrastructure programme, requiring a proactive planner with a strong background in the energy sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6.
 - Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
 - Interface with project managers, engineers, and site teams to ensure accurate planning and forecasting.
 - Identify and mitigate potential delays and risks.
 - Support reporting and governance requirements for the client and National Grid.
 - Attend site approximately 3 times per week to liaise with the delivery team and ensure alignment with the programme.
 
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Senior Planner on infrastructure or energy projects.
 - Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6.
 - National Grid (NG) project experience is highly desirable.
 - Background in energy or utilities is essential.
 - Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
 - Ability to work independently and as part of a wider project team.
