We are currently seeking a skilled Protection and Control Engineer to contribute to projects on the Scottish Framework. This role offers a hybrid working arrangement based in Glasgow, providing flexibility and a dynamic work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Development:
- Develop and review protection and control schemes for substations.
- Create and validate detailed design documents, including single line diagrams, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and client specifications.
- Project Management:
- Manage and coordinate protection and control aspects of SSE projects from conception to completion.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project milestones are met.
- Provide technical support and guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Testing and Commissioning:
- Develop testing and commissioning plans for protection and control systems.
- Perform factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT).
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to protection and control systems.
- Client Interaction:
- Liaise with clients to understand project requirements and expectations.
- Provide technical expertise and support during client meetings and site visits.
- Prepare and present project reports and documentation for client approval.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure all activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation measures.
- Stay updated with industry standards and best practices.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience in protection and control engineering within the substation sector.
- Hands-on experience with SSE and/or Scottish Power projects is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of protection relays, control systems, and substation automation.
- Proficiency in using design and simulation software.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a hybrid work environment.
