About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee a security fencing installation on a high voltage substation construction project in Carlisle. This is a critical role ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely delivery of works in a high-risk environment. Please note: This is not a live substation site, so National Grid tickets are not required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day site operations for the security fencing package.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, particularly in high-voltage environments.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and site personnel.
  • Monitor progress against programme and report to the Project Manager.
  • Maintain accurate site records, including permits, risk assessments, and daily logs.
  • Liaise with the client and stakeholders to ensure smooth delivery.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Site Manager on civil engineering or fencing projects, ideally within substation or power infrastructure environments.
  • Strong understanding of CDM regulations and HSE standards.
  • SMSTS certification (essential).
  • Other relevant site management tickets such as First Aid at Work, CSCS (desirable).
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple teams and work under pressure.
