Progressive, community-focused primary academy based in Manchester. Full-time role (Term-Time Only + 1 Week) | September start.

Our client is seeking an empathetic yet resilient Attendance & Welfare Officer to manage daily register monitoring and persistent absence interventions from September. Working closely with senior leaders, class teachers, and local authority education welfare officers (EWOs), you will take an active approach to identifying attendance trends and removing barriers to learning.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting morning registration sweeps
  • Making daily home calls for unexplained absences
  • Leading early intervention meetings with parents
  • Maintaining accurate attendance logs on Management Information Systems (SIMS or Arbor)
  • Performing home visits for vulnerable pupils
  • Designing creative attendance reward frameworks
  • Preparing legally compliant documentation for statutory local authority panels regarding persistent absence

Requirements:

  • Prior experience in school attendance, pastoral support, or family liaison
  • Complete confidence using school databases (SIMS/Arbor)
  • Exceptional communication, de-escalation, and report-writing skills
