Are you a proven Manufacturing Team Leader or Supervisor who can lead from the front and drive standards in a fast-paced production environment? Progressive and a Global Engineering & Manufacturing Company are looking to recruit a Manufacturing Team Leader on a Staff basis for their UK Manufacturing Site near Stevenage. This is an opportunity to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing business where you will take ownership of a key production team and play a critical role in improving performance, accountability, and delivery.
The Manufacturing Team Leader Role:
- Lead a team on the shop floor, ensuring daily output is achieved and standards are maintained.
- Keep production on track by spotting issues early and dealing with them before they impact delivery.
- Work closely with planning and supply chain to make sure work flows smoothly and priorities are clear.
- Hold regular conversations with team members around performance, attitude, and expectations.
- Take ownership of people-related matters including absence, performance management, and discipline where required.
- Drive improvements in the way the team works, focusing on efficiency, quality, and consistency.
- Get to the root cause of problems and put practical fixes in place to stop them happening again.
- Promote a safe working environment and ensure procedures are followed at all times.
- Keep a close eye on progress against plan and step in quickly when things start to drift.
Requirements for the Manufacturing Team Leader Role:
- Experience within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Previous experience leading or supervising teams on the shop floor.
- Strong people management skills with the confidence to challenge behaviours when needed.
- Experience driving performance and hitting production targets.
- Exposure to continuous improvement or lean manufacturing.
- Able to quickly understand whether issues are due to training, capability, or attitude.
- Experience working with production planning, MRP or Kanban systems is beneficial.
- IOSH or supervisory qualifications would be advantageous.
