We have a current opportunity for a Mechanical Quantity Surveyor on a contract basis. Job Title: Mechanical Quantity Surveyor Project: Construction of a New Technology Centre for Superconducting Magnet Manufacturing Location: Bicester (On-site) Contract Type: Contract (Outside IR35) Contract Length: 9 Months Rate: £400 per day Start Date: ASAP Project Overview: Join a pioneering project at the forefront of medical technology. This new technology centre will be dedicated to the design and manufacture of superconducting magnets used in MRI scanners for healthcare facilities worldwide. As a Mechanical Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in ensuring the successful delivery of this high-specification facility. Key Responsibilities: Manage all mechanical cost aspects of the project from inception through to final account. Prepare and manage accurate cost plans, budgets, and forecasts. Evaluate and negotiate subcontractor packages and variations. Monitor project progress and provide regular cost reports to stakeholders. Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and procurement strategies. Liaise with project managers, engineers, and the wider commercial team to ensure alignment on project goals. Support value engineering and risk management processes. Requirements: Proven experience as a Mechanical Quantity Surveyor on complex construction projects. Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, ideally within high-tech or healthcare environments. Familiarity with NEC or JCT contracts. Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills. Ability to work independently on-site and manage multiple priorities.
