We are seeking an experienced HV Plant CDAE Engineer to support high-voltage substation projects across the UK. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with National Grid experience, looking for flexible working arrangements and a contract outside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead or support Control, Design and Engineering (CDAE) activities for HV substations (typically 132kV to 400kV).
- Develop and review single line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings.
- Ensure designs comply with National Grid TP standards, ENA guidelines, and relevant BS/IEC standards.
- Collaborate with project teams to deliver design packages, technical specifications, and engineering reports.
- Provide technical input during design reviews, site surveys, and commissioning phases.
- Liaise with stakeholders including National Grid, contractors, and consultants to ensure alignment and compliance.
- Support CDM and safety requirements throughout the design lifecycle.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in HV plant design and CDAE roles.
- Strong working knowledge of National Grid specifications and procedures.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Engineering Base, or similar design tools.
- Understanding of protection and control systems, SCADA, and telecommunications in HV environments.
- Ability to work independently and manage deliverables to tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Desirable:
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
- Experience with AIS/GIS substations, transformer bays, and busbar configurations.
- Knowledge of Grid Code, G99, and system studies.
