A well-established solar client of ours is looking for an experienced HSE Manager for their ground mount solar farm project just outside of Bristol. This would be a 3-month contract starting ASAP and you MUST have previous experience of working on ground mount solar farms.
Job Description:
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable UK H&S legislation and regulations, including the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM).
- Implementing and maintaining their H&S Management System in line with ISO 45001 and client-specific requirements.
- Promoting a culture of proactive safety on-site, supporting safe planning, execution, and operational practices.
- Acting as the principal H&S point of contact for site teams, subcontractors, Principal Designers, and client-side representatives.
- Review and update site-specific H&S documentation, including Construction Phase Plans and RAMS.
- Carry out risk assessments and hazard identification related to all phases of project execution.
- Conduct regular site audits and inspections to ensure compliance with internal procedures, CDM obligations, and ISO 45001.
- Issue and follow up on corrective and preventive actions where deficiencies are identified.
- Manage and issue Permits to Work (PTW) in accordance with site safety requirements.
- Manage and oversee site access control, ensuring that only authorised personnel are permitted entry.
- Verify and ensure that all individuals entering the site have the legal right to work in the UK.
- Prepare any H&S-related documentation required by the client or any third party.
- Provide H&S inductions, toolbox talks, and training to all site-based personnel and contractors.
- Support emergency preparedness planning and participate in incident and near-miss investigations.
- Maintain detailed and accurate H&S records, including audit findings, incidents, training logs, and equipment checks.
- Prepare environmental and ESG-related reports, including data on waste, fuel, and water use.
- Evaluate pre-qualification questionnaires (PQQs) from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Promote sustainable construction practices, including appropriate waste disposal and environmental impact reduction.
- Perform all duties to a high professional standard and in a proactive, self-managed manner.
- Comply with internal policies, client requirements, and recognised H&S best practices.
Requirements:
- NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety and/or NEBOSH National Construction Certificate.
- First Aid Level 3 (Appointed Person).
- Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC).
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
- Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across the UK.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word) and digital H&S platforms.
- Legal right to work in the UK.
