We're currently supporting a leading global energy solutions provider who are looking to recruit an experienced BESS O&M Service Engineer for their UK BESS Projects. Their current projects are located in Oxfordshire and Southampton, so you need to be able to commute to both locations. This is a permanent role starting ASAP.

The focus of the role is around:

  • Operation and maintenance of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems.
  • Troubleshooting and performance optimisation.
  • Being technically minded around installations and utility connections.
  • Reviewing technical maintenance documentation and drawings.
  • Supporting planning activities and emergency corrective maintenance support.
  • Ensuring safe and efficient system operation in line with contract obligations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and support routine preventative and corrective maintenance of Battery Storage Systems and associated infrastructure.
  • Carry out remote operations as part of corrective or preventative maintenance requirements.
  • Perform site inspections and diagnostics using tools and test equipment.
  • Ensure adherence to site-specific Health and Safety standards and regulations.
  • Supervise subcontractors and ensure quality and compliance of third-party works.
  • Provide support during commissioning, upgrades and major repairs.
  • Review maintenance documentation and manuals and support drafting maintenance procedures and Methods of Statement.
  • Cooperate with management and H&S teams to draft and review H&S documentation, RAMS and other relevant procedures.
  • Support communication with OEM suppliers for maintenance procedures and relevant clarifications.
  • Support drafting the annual plan of BESS projects.
  • Provide on-call support for urgent site issues outside normal working hours.

Requirements:

  • Solid experience with the operation and maintenance of Energy Storage/BESS Projects, Renewables or Power Sector industry (minimum 2 years' experience).
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Strong understanding and training on LV systems, Inverters, Energy Management Systems and Batteries.
  • ECS/CSCS card or eligibility to obtain one.
  • Working knowledge of UK HSE regulations and safe working practices.
  • Strong organisational and written communication skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across the UK.
  • Forward thinking, a problem solver and solution provider.
  • Flexibility for participating in out-of-hours coverage.
  • Experience with HV operations would be advantageous.
