About the Role

We are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join our team in Wolverhampton. You will be responsible for delivering Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) work packages for high-integrity and complex control systems to customer and industry specifications, within budget and schedule constraints. Projects involve machine control applications and plant-wide automation, typically for highly regulated environments such as Energy, Research & Defence Infrastructure. You will work across the full lifecycle from concept design through to final design, installation, and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce EC&I designs to customer specifications and project requirements, including control panel designs: General Arrangements, detailed drawings, schematic diagrams, interlock diagrams for PLC & HMI hardware, motor starters & drives, safety circuits, instrumentation and power distribution.
  • Specify hardware and produce parts lists. Prepare manufacturing specifications.
  • Manage interface between EC&I and mechanical functions.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to meet expectations.
  • Support Lead Engineer in delivering scope to budget and schedule. Assist in managing and supervising subcontractors.
  • Provide technical expertise for tenders when required.
  • Contribute to the development of EC&I function and resources.

What We’re Looking For

  • HNC, HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering (or similar).
  • Strong electrical design engineering experience.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD/AutoCAD Electrical and MS Office.
  • Knowledge of IEC 61508 and British/European standards (advantageous).
  • Ability to gain UK Security Clearance.
  • Excellent analytical, design, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Salary & Benefits

  • Up to £50k starting salary
  • Hybrid & flexible working.
  • Pension: 5% employer / 5% employee + Death in Service (3× salary).
  • 25 days annual leave + bank holidays + option to buy/sell up to 5 additional days.
  • Accrue up to 5 extra days for authorised extra hours.
  • Membership fees paid.
