The Role

We are seeking a hands-on and experienced Site Manager to oversee the on-site delivery of District Heating / Energy Centre project in London. You will be responsible for managing day-to-day site operations, ensuring health and safety compliance, coordinating subcontractors and suppliers, and delivering projects to specification, on time and within budget.

This role is ideal for someone with strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills who thrives in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary environment.

Key Responsibilities

Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (SHEQ)

  • Act as a visible leader in promoting a safety-first culture on-site.
  • Ensure full compliance with SHEQ policies, CDM regulations, and Construction Phase Plans.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits.
  • Monitor and report incidents, near misses, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.

Site Operations & Management

  • Manage daily site activities, including labour, subcontractors, and deliveries.
  • Ensure works are carried out in accordance with design specifications, industry standards, and legislative requirements.
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager to maintain programme and cost control.
  • Support the resolution of technical issues and ensure quality standards are met.
  • Maintain accurate site records, including daily logs, progress reports, and H&S documentation.
  • Assist with site setup, logistics, and resource planning.
  • Support commissioning and handover processes, including O&M documentation.
  • Lead site teams and subcontractors to ensure efficient and safe project delivery.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders.
  • Attend and contribute to site meetings, ensuring clear documentation and follow-up.
  • Provide feedback and support to junior staff and promote a collaborative team environment.

Commercial & Contractual Support

  • Support procurement and delivery of materials and subcontractor packages.
  • Monitor site costs and report any variances or risks to the Project Manager.
  • Ensure works are delivered in line with contractual obligations and company procedures.

Candidate Profile

  • Strong site management and leadership skills.
  • Excellent understanding of construction methods, health & safety, and quality control.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Proficient in site documentation and reporting.
  • Effective communicator with strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Experience

  • 5+ years in site management roles within district heating, utilities, or construction.
  • Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary teams on complex infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with CDM regulations and site safety legislation.
  • Experience with district heating networks or energy infrastructure is highly desirable.
