We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior HV Cabling Design Engineer to work on transmission and distribution projects. This is an outside IR35 contract role, offering an exciting opportunity to work on a critical infrastructure project. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and analysis of high voltage (HV) cabling systems, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and delivering high-quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Analysis: Lead the design and analysis of HV cabling systems for transmission and distribution projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications.

Software Utilization: Utilize CYMCAP and other relevant cabling software tools to perform thermal analysis, ampacity calculations, and other necessary design functions.

Technical Expertise: Provide technical expertise and guidance on HV cabling design, including cable selection, routing, installation methods, and protection.

Project Collaboration: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of cabling systems within the overall project scope.

Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed design documentation, reports, and technical specifications. Ensure all design documentation is accurate, comprehensive, and up to date.

Compliance and Standards: Ensure all designs comply with relevant national and international standards, including IEC, IEEE, and other applicable regulations.

Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with HV cabling design and installation.

Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in HV cabling design. Propose and implement improvements to enhance design processes and outcomes.

Qualifications and Experience:

Education: Bachelor\’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. A Master\’s degree would be advantageous.

Experience: A minimum of 7 years of experience in HV cabling design, specifically in transmission and distribution projects.

Software Proficiency: Proficient in using CYMCAP and other relevant cabling software tools. Experience with CAD software and other design tools is desirable.

Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of HV cabling systems, including cable types, materials, installation methods, and thermal performance.

Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant standards and regulations, including IEC, IEEE, and other national/international standards.
