To provide a professional, welcoming, and efficient front-of-house service within the school setting. The School Receptionist will act as the first point of contact for visitors, parents/carers, staff, and external agencies, ensuring effective communication, safeguarding compliance, and smooth day-to-day administrative operations that support teaching, learning, and student wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Acting as the first point of contact for all visitors, ensuring sign-in procedures are followed in line with safeguarding requirements.
  • Managing incoming telephone calls and emails, responding appropriately or directing enquiries to the relevant staff members.
  • Maintaining accurate visitor records and ensuring safeguarding and health and safety procedures are consistently applied.
  • Providing administrative support to teaching staff and the senior leadership team, including photocopying, filing, and document preparation.
  • Managing student attendance records, late arrivals, and early departures in line with school procedures.
  • Supporting communication with parents/carers, including relaying messages and assisting with appointment scheduling.
  • Maintaining a tidy, professional, and welcoming reception area at all times.
  • Supporting the Operational Manager with general administrative tasks as required.
  • Ensuring compliance with GDPR, safeguarding, and school policies in all reception and administrative activities.
Person Specification
  • Understanding of or willingness to learn school administrative and reception procedures.
  • Awareness of safeguarding requirements within an educational setting.
  • Understanding of or willingness to learn data protection (GDPR) principles.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and general IT systems.
  • Experience in a customer-facing or administrative role (desirable).
