Your Role as a Team Leader (Children’s Services)

You’ll support the day-to-day running of the home, leading by example to create a safe, nurturing environment where young people can develop and succeed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the care of children aged 12–17 in a safe, homely environment
  • Contribute to meeting their physical, emotional, social, and educational needs
  • Build positive relationships to support personal development
  • Promote independence through daily living skills
  • Supervise and support team members to develop their skills and confidence
  • Lead by example, ensuring high standards of care
  • Mentor less experienced staff and strengthen team capability
  • Advocate for the needs and best interests of young people
  • Support consistent, high-quality care across the service
  • Work flexibly across shifts, including days, waking nights, and sleep‑ins

Requirements

Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Children’s Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
  • Willingness to work towards a management qualification
  • Awareness of Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards
  • Experience supporting or mentoring others in a team setting
  • Passion for improving outcomes for young people
  • Strong communication, empathy, and emotional awareness
  • A calm, resilient approach in challenging situations
  • A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
