We are looking for committed individuals who can bring energy, empathy and resilience to shift-based work in a high-risk, fast-paced environment. You'll play a vital role in supporting residents as they move away from offending and towards a better future. Shifts include: days, nights and weekends on a rolling 8-week pattern. You will need great people skills and be calm under pressure. Passion is a must - we work with risk, but also with hope.

Responsibilities:
- Progress To Change runs two Approved Premises (formerly known as Probation and Bail Hostels) in Leeds. Ripon House provides a service for women offenders and Cardigan House works with male offenders. Both Approved Premises (AP) operate alongside the National Probation Service (NPS).
- AP provide three inter-related functions: public protection, rehabilitation and residential services.
- AP mainly accommodate those on licence following release from custody, but also take those on community sentences and bail.
- AP deliver an enhanced regime focusing on purposeful activities linked to resettlement based on an understanding of desistance research.
- Activities are based on the nine resettlement pathways, which are underpinned by engagement and the case manager relationship.
- Be one of two staff on duty ensuring that the AP always has double cover.
- Be a positive and engaging first point of contact for residents, criminal justice workers, partner agencies and other visitors, offering assistance and hospitality.
- Model behaviour appropriate to enabling environments at all times.
- Maintain accurate recordings regarding all residents in line with AP Policy.
- Operate the CCTV systems in accordance with guidelines.
- Deal with residents approaching you for information and support in a sensitive and pro-social manner, giving their needs priority over other tasks.
- Maintain all systems in relation to the monitoring of residents including curfews, signing in and out, room searches, drug testing and alcohol testing.
- Maintain all systems in relation to the welfare of residents, including room checks, self-harm checks, wake-up calls.
- Give medication in line with AP guidelines.
- Liaise with stakeholders including Probation, Police, Medical Professionals.
- Support the case manager/project worker in delivering structured activities.
- Liaise with the duty manager and recall unit where required during waking night shifts and follow their advice.
- During waking night shifts make up induction packs/files and ensure that any preparation/photocopying for activities is done, as requested.
- Take responsibility for running some activities in the AP.
- Promote diversity and anti-discriminatory practice to all service users and staff in line with national and local policies.
- Supervise the provision of meals - including eating lunch and evening meals with residents and preparing food when required.
- Clear/clean vacated rooms ensuring residents' property is stored appropriately.
Qualifications:
You must be at least 18 years old, have 5 GCSE passes including English and Maths and/or some paid or voluntary experience of working with people, particularly disadvantaged groups. Above all, you must enjoy working with and motivating people. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are also required.
