We are seeking a dedicated KS2 Classroom Teaching Assistant to support our Junior school team in delivering high-quality education to children in Key Stage 2. This role involves working closely with teachers and pupils to foster a positive learning environment, ensuring that every child receives personalised support tailored to their individual needs. The ideal candidate will have a passion for education, excellent communication skills, and experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs or disabilities. Responsibilities
- Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging lessons across various subjects within the KS2 curriculum.
- Provide one-to-one or small group support to pupils, including those with special educational needs or disabilities such as autism.
- Support pupils with behavioural, emotional, or social difficulties to ensure they can participate fully in classroom activities.
- Aid in the organisation of classroom resources and materials to facilitate smooth lesson delivery.
- Monitor and record pupils’ progress, behaviour, and development, providing feedback to teachers and parents as required.
- Support pupils during break times, lunchtimes, and other school activities to promote social interaction and inclusion.
- Foster an inclusive environment that encourages confidence, independence, and positive behaviour among pupils.
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to implement personalised learning plans for pupils requiring additional support.
- Uphold safeguarding policies and promote the welfare of all children under your care.
Experience
- Prior experience working with children within an educational setting is essential.
- Experience supporting children with special educational needs (SEN), including those with autism or behavioural challenges, is highly desirable.
- Background in teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or supporting individuals with disabilities will be advantageous.
- Strong communication skills are necessary to effectively liaise with pupils, teachers, parents, and external professionals.
- Knowledge of inclusive teaching practices and strategies for supporting diverse learning needs is preferred.
- A genuine passion for fostering a positive learning environment and helping children achieve their full potential is vital.
