Progress Rail Services UK is seeking a Supply Chain Coordinator to act as the central point of contact for operational support across Planning, Procurement and Logistics. This role is responsible for coordinating essential administrative activities to ensure the smooth running of the operation, playing a key part in delivering excellent customer service and acting as a vital communication link between sites.
THE ROLE
- Prepare and issue production work order packs for the shop floor, including route cards, labels and technical drawings or sketches.
- Support WIP control, including expediting work in progress, completing job closures and assisting with month-end processes, highlighting risks or delays to production teams as they arise.
- Liaise with internal departments and Sales to provide timely updates on order progress and any delivery delays.
- Produce and maintain consignment stock forecasts, free-issue purchase orders, usage and forecast reports, supporting materials availability and planning accuracy.
- Assist Logistics with transport arrangements and purchase orders related to WIP and finished goods movements.
- Work closely with Production, Warehouse, Quality and internal and external Logistics teams to support smooth operational flow.
- Assist in the preparation of operational and management reports, including productivity, efficiency, utilisation, COPQ, capacity and indirect metrics.
- Raise and process purchase requisitions for Supply Chain and Production Support activities as required.
- Provide general administrative and clerical support, including document scanning and data maintenance, to support operational requirements.
- Support and participate in stock takes as required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by seeking out best practice and working collaboratively with stakeholders.
- Comply with the Company Code of Conduct and ensure all activities are carried out in line with health, safety and legislative requirements.
- Undertake other reasonable duties as required to support the needs of the business.
THE CANDIDATE
- Strong IT literacy, with proficient use of Microsoft Office applications.
- Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and how they support the order-to-delivery cycle.
- A basic understanding of supply chain operations and how key functions work together.
- Well-developed planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- A collaborative approach, able to work effectively with internal stakeholders across departments.
- Good problem-solving capability, with the ability to act quickly and pragmatically when issues arise.
- Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- High levels of attention to detail, accuracy and reliability.
- Trustworthy and professional, with a positive, motivated and proactive attitude.
