Overview
Locomotive Technician – Peterborough, PE1
from £37,687.59 DoE (£33,500 starting base salary DoE + 12.5% shift allowance). 5 week rota of earlies, evenings and 1 weekend in 5.
Responsibilities
- Carrying out maintenance, repair, overhaul, modification and fault-finding activities
- Lead engineer for contracts, projects or tasks as necessary to support operational performance
- Assisting other engineers on the team
- Conducting audits in line with Company quality management standards and processes
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
- Acting as a role model of Quality, Health and Safety and Environmental Policies
- Working in line with legislation and rail industry requirements
Shift pattern
The shift cycle runs over a period of 5 weeks. Week 1: Mon–Fri earlies (06:00 – 14:30); Week 2: Mon–Fri evenings (13:30 – 22:00); Week 3: Mon–Fri earlies (06:00 – 14:30); Week 4: Fri 07:00–15:00, Sat–Sun 07:00–17:30; Week 5: Mon–Fri evenings (13:30 – 22:00).

- L3 Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent

- Demonstrable history of working effectively with Diesel engineering technology and associated systems and controls
- Self-starter and a team player, able to coach and help others to get the job done to a high standard
- A strong communicator with ability to build relationships across the organisation
- A logical, analytical and objective approach to problem solving and fault diagnosis
- High level of professionalism & strong sense of customer satisfaction
