APPRENTICE CNC MACHINIST X2

SHEFFIELD, S9 1US

£19,000 PER ANNUM + SHIFT ALLOWANCE

Progress Rail is looking to recruit an Apprentice CNC Machinist. The successful Apprentice will be learning and developing practical and technical skills, attending college and other nominated training course, completing all relevant tests, exams and assignments to develop into an individual who can Operate Milling Machines and produce machined components to the production plan, in a safe and efficient manner, within the planned production time and to the required quality.

THE ROLE:
As an Apprentice CNC Machinist you will be required to:

  • Identify the appropriate rail sections and grades of material
  • Follow the instructions on the route card and reading of drawings
  • Use measuring equipment correctly and accurately
  • Identify\\load the correct tools for the Job and change their inserts
  • Use DTI clock for probing/setting up job
  • Setup whole range of jobs required on machine
  • Use overhead cranes training will be provided
  • Load and unload rails to machine using internal cranes as well as with the help of side loader. Tandem lifting and banksman duties as and when required
  • Load, backup and edit programs
  • Use Grinders, Dyno file and other power tools along with Templates and gauges
  • Ensure the machine is programmed with the correct data for the process required for each rail

THE CANDIDATE:
The ideal Apprentice CNC Machinist:

  • Minimum of four GCSE Grades of C/4 in:-English, Maths and Science
  • Team player with the ability to work collaboratively with others
  • Good communication skills
  • Being proactive and autonomous when required
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Ability to prioritise and work under pressure to deadlines and targets
  • Willingness to learn
  • Flexible and willing to work additional hours where reasonably required
  • Good knowledge of MS Office package including Excel
