Are you a highly organised Transport Coordinator looking to take the next step in a dynamic, fast paced environment? We’re looking for someone who can confidently manage and support all third‑party transport activity, working closely with hauliers, freight forwarders and specialist lifting partners. In this varied role you’ll coordinate vehicle movements, ensure full compliance for abnormal loads and play a key part in supporting safe and efficient crane lifting operations. Combining office‑based logistics planning with hands‑on operational oversight, you’ll help maintain the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and service delivery every day.

The Role

  • Coordinate all third‑party transport activity, acting as the main point of contact for hauliers, freight forwarders and specialist providers.
  • Schedule and manage inbound/outbound movements, ensuring timely collections and deliveries while monitoring progress and resolving issues.
  • Review and verify all transport and export documentation, including permits, declarations and booking details.
  • Negotiate rates, availability, and service levels with external partners where required.
  • Plan and oversee abnormal load movements, ensuring full compliance with permits, escort requirements, route surveys and statutory regulations.
  • Work closely with heavy haulage specialists to deliver safe and compliant transport solutions.
  • Support crane and lifting operations, including scheduling, reviewing lift plans/RAMS and coordinating with site teams and operators to ensure safe execution in line with LOLER.
  • Provide on‑site operational support, carrying out vehicle and load checks, overseeing lifting activities and monitoring third‑party safety performance.
  • Ensure full compliance with legal, environmental and company standards, maintaining accurate records and supporting incident and near‑miss reporting.
  • Maintain transport schedules, trackers and reporting, while providing clear updates to internal stakeholders and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

The Candidate

  • Demonstrated experience in transport coordination or logistics operations.
  • Familiarity with third‑party haulage, freight forwarding and specialist transport providers.
  • Sound understanding of transport compliance, including load security, routing and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience or exposure to abnormal load movements and associated compliance standards.
  • Knowledge of lifting operations, LOLER regulations, and crane hire processes (advantageous).
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across operational and site teams.
  • Proficient in IT systems, including MS Office and transport/ERP platforms; CAD/CREO awareness (beneficial).
  • Ability to operate effectively under pressure with strong organisational and problem‑solving skills.
  • Background in construction, engineering, manufacturing, or heavy industry logistics preferred.
  • Safety‑focused, adaptable, and detail‑oriented, with a proactive and team‑oriented approach.
