Role Description
The CNC Miller is a full-time, on-site role based in Sheffield, TX. The role involves setting up, operating, and monitoring CNC milling machines to produce precision components for rail industry applications, following engineering drawings and technical specifications. Day-to-day tasks include selecting appropriate tools and fixtures, loading and securing workpieces, entering or adjusting machine programs, and inspecting finished parts with measuring instruments to ensure accuracy and quality. The CNC Miller will perform routine machine maintenance, troubleshoot basic machining issues, and collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to meet delivery schedules and safety standards. The role also requires maintaining a clean, safe work area and documenting production activities in accordance with company procedures.
Qualifications
- Strong CNC milling skills, including machine setup, operation, and basic program adjustments.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and work instructions.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges) for quality inspection.
- Knowledge of machining materials, cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and safe machining practices.
- Experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment, preferably related to rail or transportation equipment.
- Commitment to workplace safety, continuous improvement, and adherence to quality standards.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and in a team setting.
- Relevant vocational training or apprenticeship in machining, CNC operations, or a related field; prior CNC Miller experience is highly beneficial.
