Progress Rail is looking to recruit a Pattern Maker to work in a safe and productive manner, producing new and altering existing patterns, manufacture and install methods features and provide a service to the foundry. Update required inspection sheets and rectify any non-conformances reported in adherence to Company quality procedures. All within planned and agreed time scales and to the required quality standard.
THE ROLE:
- Modify patterns to engineering drawings supplied
- Complete inspection reports
- Investigate and rectify, where required, any non-conformance's reported
- Complete tasks to an agreed time scale to meet production requirements
- Check plant and equipment are safe and fit for purpose prior to use
- Liaise with foundry production personnel in order to progress castings through the foundry
- Work within Health, Safety & Environmental procedures
- Ensure the accurate use of the Time & Attendance systems
- Respond professionally and innovatively to satisfy the needs of internal and external customers, ensuring that quality standards are never conceded
- Be aware, and actively reduce the incident rate, of Non-Conforming errors within the team
- Create a "Clean-as-you-go" policy and maintain W.I.P. and stock areas
- Ensure plant and equipment is maintained safely and fit for purpose, reporting and resolving defects
- Be willing to be trained in other production areas
- Work to risk assessments and method statements where they are in place
- Be flexible and willing to work additional hours where reasonably required
THE CANDIDATE:
- Time served in pattern making, ideally Apprentice trained or at least 4 years' experience working within a similar role
- Ability to read and understand engineering and production drawings
- Safety conscious with a knowledge of relevant Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality processes and legislation
- Strong communication skills
- Team player with the ability to collaborate with the Pattern Shop team and colleagues within our casting operations
- Attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to prioritise and work under pressure to deadlines and targets
