Pattern Maker – South Queensferry

Salary: ÂŁ38,647 (depending on experience) + ÂŁ3,727 shift allowance

Shift Pattern:

  • Days: Monday to Thursday, 06:00 – 14:00 & Friday 06:00 – 11:00
  • Afters: Monday to Thursday, 14:00 – 23:15

The Role

As a Pattern Maker you will be required to:

  • Modify patterns to engineering drawings supplied
  • Complete inspection reports
  • Investigate and rectify, where required, any non‑conformances reported
  • Complete tasks to an agreed time scale to meet production requirements
  • Check plant and equipment are safe and fit for purpose prior to use
  • Liaise with foundry production personnel to progress castings through the foundry
  • Work within Health, Safety & Environmental procedures
  • Ensure the accurate use of the Time & Attendance systems
  • Respond professionally and innovatively to satisfy the needs of internal and external customers, ensuring quality standards are never conceded
  • Be aware, and actively reduce the incident rate of non‑conforming errors within the team
  • Create a “Clean‑as‑you‑go” policy and maintain W.I.P. and stock areas
  • Ensure plant and equipment is maintained safely and fit for purpose, reporting and resolving defects
  • Be willing to be trained in other production areas
  • Work to risk assessments and method statements where they are in place
  • Be flexible and willing to work additional hours where reasonably required

The Candidate

The ideal Pattern Maker:

  • Time served in pattern making, ideally Apprentice trained or at least 4 years’ experience working within a similar role
  • Ability to read and understand engineering and production drawings
  • Safety conscious with a knowledge of relevant safety, health, environmental and quality processes and legislation
  • Strong communication skills
  • Team player with the ability to collaborate with the Pattern Shop team and colleagues within our casting operations
  • Attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Ability to prioritise and work under pressure to deadlines and targets
