Pay and Shift Allowance Up to £35,141 DOE (including shift allowance)

Shift Pattern:

  • Mornings: Monday to Thursday, 06:00 – 13:40 & Friday 06:00 – 13:00
  • Afternoon: Monday to Thursday, 11:55 – 19:35 & Friday 11:55 – 18:55

Progress Rail Services UK is seeking a skilled Assembler to support the delivery of high‑quality track work layouts and associated equipment in line with engineering specifications and production plans. This role plays a key part in ensuring safe, accurate, and efficient assembly processes that directly contribute to our operational excellence and customer commitments. The successful candidate will bring technical capability, attention to detail, and a strong focus on safety to a dynamic and hands‑on manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Work under the direction of Team Leader/ Lead Assembler as required.
  • Read and work to engineering drawings/layout drawings.
  • Use correct measuring tools for the task in hand (including scale metre, tape, gauges and templates).
  • Ensure the correct layout and mark up of base rails and positioning of concrete bearers/timbers to the layout drawing.
  • Lay the steel onto base rails to correct tolerance with minimum supervision.
  • Identify and sub-assemble e.g. check closures, glued joint rail, twisted closures, stock, switch, expansion switches.
  • Fix equipment to concrete or timber layouts using approved methods.
  • Lead others in the absence of the Team Leader.
  • Assist with despatch duties, including modular, when required.
  • Package loose despatch materials safely and accurately, with quantities and descriptions.
  • Train others as appropriate.
  • Comply with safety, health, environmental and quality policies and procedures.

Candidate:

  • Awareness of Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality issues.
  • Engineering qualification or experience.
  • Able to read and work to engineering drawings.
  • Certified qualification in slinging.
  • Able to work under pressure to deadlines and targets.
