We are seeking a new Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees. This is a key leadership role, critical to ensuring our financial resilience and strategic growth for the next chapter. What difference will you make? For far too many in the LGBTQ+ community, facing mental health challenges can feel like a solitary struggle. The need for accessible and understanding support has never been more critical. In Wales, LGBTQ+ individuals are often disproportionately affected by mental health issues, compounded by isolation and barriers to inclusive care. We are seeking an individual with the passion and skills to contribute towards our life‑saving service and strategic direction. This role is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional seeking a leadership position. We provide comprehensive induction and ongoing support, drawing on your strong financial experience.
Qualifications
- Experience in finances, bookkeeping or accounting.
- A practical understanding of the Charities SORP and charity finance regulations.
- The ability to interpret and communicate complex financial information clearly to a diverse, non-financial audience.
- A strategic mindset with sound commercial judgment and a proactive approach to problem‑solving.
- A passion for our mission and a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Desirable
- Qualified accountant with demonstration of not-for-profit awareness and knowledge or equivalent proven senior-level financial management experience.
- Experience with accounting and payroll software packages (include Xero, Liberty Accounts and BrightPay).
- Welsh language skills.

Key Responsibilities
- Alongside your core legal duties as a Trustee, you will provide financial leadership by:
- Financial Oversight & Reporting – Preparing and presenting clear, comprehensive quarterly financial reports, budgets, and forecasts to the Board. You will analyse financial data from the senior management team to provide trustees with a full and accurate understanding of the charity’s financial position.
- Financial Management & Controls – Reviewing and guiding the financial systems, procedures, and internal controls maintained by the senior management team to safeguard the charity’s assets.
- Strategic Financial Planning – Advising the Board on the financial implications of our strategic plans and leading on the development of a sustainable reserves policy, contributing directly to the charity’s long‑term financial health.
- Governance & Compliance – Overseeing the preparation of the annual accounts and leading the relationship with our independent examiner, ensuring the charity’s full compliance with the Charity Commission and Charities SORP.
- Risk Management – Monitoring the charity’s financial viability and advising the Board on financial risk management, ensuring we are strategically prepared for future challenges and opportunities.
