As part of the Private Law team, you will advise on a wide range of complex matters, including wills and succession, inheritance tax, trusts, and probate. You will work closely with our Wealth Management team to support mutual clients. You will manage a varied caseload, meeting with clients to understand their needs, progressing matters efficiently, drafting tailored documentation, and liaising with other stakeholders. You will ensure accurate case management and full compliance with SRA and Firm standards, while building strong client relationships and contributing to the team's professional growth. This role is on a hybrid basis and can be based out of our Leeds or Nottingham office.
Key responsibilities
- Arrange and conduct meetings with new and existing clients to establish necessary advice and services, based on the client’s needs.
- Arrange and attend further client meetings where necessary to progress the case and finalise documentation.
- Take and act upon client instructions.
- Instruct barristers or specialist advocates to appear in court for the client in complex disputes.
- Correspond with clients and opposing solicitors where necessary.
- Advise clients on the law and legal issues relating to their cases.
- Draft documents, letters and contracts tailored to the client’s individual needs.
- Research and analyse documents and case law to ensure the accuracy of advice.
- Deliver agreed billing and other targets in accordance with departmental and personal financial controls/budgets.
- Support the development and reputation of the firm through external involvement in professional organisations and internal contribution at departmental and practice levels.
- Keep up to date on legislative, regulatory and client‑related developments, changes and trends.
- Adhere to the standards set by the SRA and all the firm’s policies and procedures.
- Support the training and development of trainee solicitors and paralegals.
