Senior Underwriter – Multi‑Class Location: Birmingham (Hybrid) Employer: Global Insurance Group Contract: Permanent, Full‑Time About the Role This is a key opportunity for an experienced Multi‑Class Senior Underwriter to join a leading global insurer with a strong market presence and an ambitious growth strategy. Based in the Birmingham office, you will play a pivotal role in driving underwriting excellence across a diverse portfolio, contributing to regional profitability, and strengthening broker relationships. Key Responsibilities Lead the underwriting of a broad multi‑class commercial portfolio, ensuring decisions align with underwriting strategy, risk appetite, and regulatory requirements. Evaluate, price, and negotiate complex risks while maintaining strong technical discipline and commercial awareness. Develop and maintain high‑value relationships with brokers and partners across the Midlands market, acting as a trusted expert and ambassador for the business. Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and support to junior underwriters, helping to build capability within the team. Contribute to portfolio management, including performance analysis, trend identification, and strategic recommendations. Collaborate with product, actuarial, and claims teams to ensure a cohesive approach to risk selection and product development. Represent the company at market events, broker meetings, and industry forums. About You Proven experience as a Senior Underwriter within commercial lines, ideally across multiple classes (e.g., Property, Casualty, Motor, Financial Lines). Strong analytical capability with the confidence to make sound, evidence‑based underwriting decisions. Excellent broker‑facing skills with the ability to influence, negotiate, and build long‑term partnerships. A proactive mindset with the ability to balance technical rigour and commercial opportunity. Strong understanding of UK insurance market dynamics and regulatory frameworks. ACII qualification (or progress toward it) is highly desirable.
