The Role: As a Development Underwriter, you’ll be at the forefront of the growth strategy—building broker relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and underwriting complex commercial risks. You’ll work closely with the regional teams to deliver profitable growth while maintaining underwriting excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage relationships with brokers and intermediaries to drive new business
- Underwrite commercial risks across property, casualty, and liability lines
- Negotiate terms and pricing in line with underwriting guidelines and risk appetite
- Collaborate with internal teams to deliver innovative insurance solutions
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity to inform underwriting strategy
- Support the development of junior underwriters and contribute to team success
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience in commercial underwriting, ideally in a development or broker-facing role
- Technical knowledge across multiple lines of business
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- ACII qualification (or working towards) preferred
- A proactive, results-driven mindset with a passion for growth
