Our Client, a Southern‑based MGA is expanding, and we’re looking for an experienced Construction Underwriter to join their growing team. About the Role
As a Construction Underwriter, you’ll take ownership of a varied and dynamic book of construction risks, working closely with brokers to deliver tailored solutions that balance commercial opportunity with sound underwriting discipline. What You’ll Be Doing
- Underwriting a broad range of construction risks, including contractors, trades, project‑based covers, and associated commercial lines
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with brokers across the UK
- Negotiating terms and pricing to secure profitable new business and retain quality accounts
- Applying sound technical judgement while leveraging modern tools and data insights
- Managing your own pipeline and contributing to wider business development activity
- Working closely with internal teams to support service excellence and operational efficiency

What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience underwriting construction risks within an MGA or insurer
- Strong technical capability and confidence handling both standard and non‑standard cases
- A natural trader with excellent broker‑facing skills
- Commercially minded with a focus on profitable growth
- Comfortable working autonomously with real decision‑making responsibility
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills
- CII qualifications (or working toward them) are advantageous
