We’re seeking a dynamic New Business Trading Underwriter to join our Manchester team within a leading global insurance group. This is a front-facing, commercially driven role where your ability to negotiate, influence, and win high-quality business will directly shape the success of our regional portfolio. You’ll underwrite new commercial risks, trade effectively with brokers across the North West, and ensure every deal aligns with our appetite and profitability goals. Key Responsibilities

  • Underwrite and price new commercial business in line with underwriting strategy, appetite, and profitability targets.
  • Trade confidently with brokers, negotiating terms and securing profitable deals in a fast-paced environment.
  • Build and strengthen broker relationships across Manchester and the wider North West, developing a strong and sustainable pipeline.
  • Assess risks with technical accuracy while maintaining a strong commercial edge.
  • Collaborate with underwriting, actuarial, and product teams to refine pricing and appetite.

About You

  • Proven experience underwriting new business within commercial lines, ideally in a trading-focused environment.
