Job Title: Waste Driver Location: Swindon Pay Rate: £15.50 per hour Employment Type: Temporary – Ongoing Working Hours: 6 – 7 am start , Monday to Friday, no wekeends Overview ProForce Personnel Ltd is currently recruiting for an experienced and reliable Waste Driver to join a busy waste and recycling service team. This is a physically demanding, hands-on role that requires excellent driving ability, strong safety awareness, and a high standard of customer care, along with the ability to supervise a small crew effectively. Key Responsibilities * Safely operate and maintain an HGV waste collection vehicle, including routine vehicle checks (oil, water, tyres) and cleaning duties. * Complete all relevant documentation and in-cab technology updates (e.g., non-collection reasons, assisted collections). * Collect waste and recycling materials according to set schedules and routes, adapting as required for operational needs. * Load and unload vehicles safely and efficiently while adhering to health and safety guidelines. * Supervise the crew on your vehicle, ensuring safe and efficient operations and high standards of customer care. * Respond appropriately to accidents, near misses, or any incidents involving the vehicle, property, or the public. * Maintain positive and respectful communication with the public, offering basic advice and resolving conflict calmly if needed. * Carry out collections in line with health & safety procedures, ensuring properties are left tidy, gates closed, and bins/boxes returned correctly. * Support out-of-hours operations when required (including weekends and bank holidays). Essential Requirements * Valid HGV Class 2 Licence * Valid Driver CPC * Valid Digital Tachograph Card * Previous experience operating refuse or recycling collection vehicles is preferred but not essential * Able to complete daily paperwork and use in-cab technology Desirable * NVQ Level 2 in Waste Management (or willingness to work towards it) – desired but not essential * Knowledge of waste handling or recycling practices – desired but not essential Key Attributes * Physically fit and able to work in varying weather conditions * Safety-conscious, proactive, and reliable * Strong customer service and communication skills * Team player with leadership qualities and supervisory experience Working Conditions * Outdoor working in all weather conditions * Early starts, including working in darkness * The role involves occasional exposure to hazardous waste, unpleasant conditions, and potentially confrontational situations with the public, resilience is essential * PPE provided To Apply: Please contact ProForce Personnel Ltd
