A leading manufacturer in the Wolverhampton area has an exciting new opportunity for a Technical Sales Engineer to join the business. This opportunity has been created due to the current Technical Sales Engineer retiring from the business in September time. Ideally, there will be a transition period before the current Technical Sales Engineer leaves the business. This is an internal sales role, with the majority being inbound inquiries, and the role offers hybrid working in the future, once the individual has been fully trained. They are offering an attractive salary circa £35k with additional performance-related annual bonus, pension plan and much more.

Key responsibilities of the Technical Sales Engineer:

  • Review customer enquiries, drawings, and specifications to prepare accurate quotations.
  • Advise customers on suitable coating and surface finishing solutions based on application and material.
  • Identify and communicate any technical or process constraints at quotation stage.
  • Follow up quotations and support conversion into orders.
  • Define process routes and ensure accurate job set-up within internal systems.
  • Work closely with production, quality, and operations teams to ensure feasibility and successful delivery.
  • Communicate with customers to resolve technical queries and clarify requirements.
  • Support quality and compliance processes, including PPAP and IATF 16949 where applicable.

Requirements of the Technical Sales Engineer:

  • Experienced Technical Sales Engineer, Estimator or Applications Engineer who has been working for a manufacturing/engineering business with a product range.
  • Experienced in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Engineering qualifications in Mechanical, Materials or similar is an advantage.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office and ERP Systems.
  • Comfortable working across both technical and commercial responsibilities.
  • This opportunity would suit either an internal Technical Salesperson, Estimator or a field-based applications engineer who is looking to move into a more site-based role.
