A global manufacturer based in Kent is looking to recruit a Fire Testing & Certification Engineer to support the planning, execution and documentation of fire testing and certification activities across the company's product ranges. The role offers hybrid working, great benefits, and a competitive starting salary.
As a Fire Testing & Certification Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the planning and delivery of fire and smoke control tests.
- Preparing test samples, specifications and construction details.
- Coordinating with external test houses and certification bodies.
- Assisting with sampling and audits for certification schemes.
- Producing and maintaining test reports, assessments, certification documents and data sheets.
- Ensuring all documentation is accurate, compliant and up to date.
- Working with Product and Design teams to ensure products align with tested and certified configurations.
- Supporting reviews of product changes and their certification impact.
- Creating and updating CAD drawings for testing and certification activities.
- Supporting compliance with BS 476-22, BS 476-31.1, EN 1634-1, UL 10C and UL 1784.
Key skills and experience for the Fire Testing & Certification Engineer:
- Strong understanding of fire testing and certification within the construction or doorset sector.
- Knowledge of key fire and smoke standards, including BS 476, EN 1634 and UL standards.
- Experience working with test houses and certification bodies (e.g., BM TRADA).
- Ability to interpret technical standards, test evidence and certification scopes.
- Competent in 2D and 3D CAD for testing and certification work.
- Clear, structured technical writing skills.
