We have a new opportunity for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a global leader in the Llantrisant region. This is an incredible opportunity to be part of an experienced, small Maintenance team where you can progress your career. The reason for this opportunity is due to an internal promotion within the business. You will be working a 4 on 4 off shift, regular days on the rotation. Working hours will be 6 am to 6 pm, then 4 days off. Salary circa to £40k to £45k. The successful individual will be working alongside an experienced team of Maintenance Engineers, so we can consider recent apprentices or more experienced individuals looking for that next step in their career.
Job Summary:This opportunity is suitable for candidates with a strong mechanical maintenance background and a focus on industrial plant reliability and safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities:- Ensure the continued upkeep of the Manufacturing Facility for all mechanical, rotating equipment, piping systems, and associated plant equipment through a hands-on approach.
- Proactively carry out preventative maintenance (PPM), support service visits, mechanical inspections, and precision alignments focused on mechanical integrity and asset life cycle.
- Develop and update maintenance procedures and other Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental documentation, ensuring strict adherence to PSSR, PUWER, and LOLER regulations.
- Work safely on site, adhering to strict Permit to Work (PTW) systems and producing/following Method Statements (RAMS) for all maintenance tasks.
- Work with Process Engineers, Plant Engineers & other production R&D staff on troubleshooting and improvement projects, leading on Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for mechanical failures.
- Ensure all Mechanical Maintenance work (internal & contractors) is carried out correctly and recorded accurately within the CMMS to maintain a robust audit trail.
- Provide high-quality shift handovers, ensuring technical continuity and safety across the 4-on 4-off shift pattern.
- HNC/HND qualified in a Mechanical Engineering discipline or a time-served apprenticeship with significant industrial experience.
- Strong experience in fault finding and repair of mechanical systems, including centrifugal pumps, Pipework, Heat Exchangers, Agitators, Mechanical Seals and Steam Systems.
- A solid understanding of UK statutory regulations, specifically PSSR (Pressure Systems) and PUWER.
- Ability to read and interpret complex mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and technical manuals.
- Proficiency in using a CMMS for logging work and managing spares.
- Experienced in writing clear technical reports and procedures to support continuous improvement.
