A global manufacturer based in the West Midlands is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team. This is a full-time, on-site position where you will take ownership of mechanical design projects, contribute electrical knowledge, and play a key role in developing future engineering leaders.
Key responsibilities:
- Designing and developing sheet metal components for manufacturing applications.
- Creating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs) to support production workflows.
- Producing detailed CAD models and technical drawings (CREO preferred, but open to other CAD software).
- Designing wiring looms and harnesses to integrate electrical systems into mechanical designs.
- Collaborating with production and quality teams to ensure designs meet performance and compliance standards.
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing processes.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in mechanical design engineering within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong background in sheet metal design and BOM management.
- Electrical engineering knowledge with hands-on experience in wiring loom and harness design.
- Proficiency in CAD software (CREO experience advantageous, but not essential).
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work on-site full-time in the West Midlands.
- Experience of mentoring others as this role has the potential to grow into a team leadership role.
- Background in HVAC, refrigeration, or chiller systems would be beneficial but not essential.
