A leading Formula 1 team is looking for a Contract EDS Engineer to support the mechanical packaging and integration of electrical systems in high-performance race car environments. This is a fast-paced, hands-on role requiring experience in delivering robust and lightweight electrical hardware installations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical packaging of electrical components including:

    • Enclosures, brackets, housings, and trunking

    • Batteries, busbars, PCB mounting, and cold plates

    • High-voltage composite battery pack enclosures

  • Thermal-mechanical design:

    • Cooling calculations

    • Ducting, heatsink specification, and integration

  • Design and specification of AV mounting systems:

    • Sizing of bushings

    • Test definition and validation planning

    • Development of tooling and installation processes

  • Close collaboration with electrical, composites, and design teams to ensure optimal system performance and integration

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in EDS design within motorsport, automotive, aerospace, or EV sectors

  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles for electrical systems packaging

  • Familiarity with thermal management of electronic systems

  • CAD proficiency (e.g., Siemens NX, CATIA V5 preferred)

  • Experience with composite enclosures, lightweight materials, and packaging constraints

  • Knowledge of vibration and fatigue in electrical mounting systems

  • Ability to deliver high-quality solutions under tight deadlines in a high-performance engineering environment
