We are looking for a commercially driven and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our clients growing Commercial team. They are a leading Birmingham based civils, groundworks and demolition company working for Tier 1 contractors. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality projects while contributing to the continued success and expansion of the business.
The Role
- You will take ownership of projects from tender through to final account, ensuring strong financial performance, effective contract administration, and successful project delivery.
- Working closely with internal teams and clients, you will be instrumental in maintaining relationships, managing risk, and driving value across all stages of the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and project teams.
- Work collaboratively with Contracts Managers, Site Teams, and Estimators.
- Lead contract administration, ensuring compliance with contract conditions and relevant legislation.
- Manage the full commercial lifecycle of projects from tender to final account.
- Prepare and submit accurate valuations and ensure timely receipt of payments.
- Produce and maintain cash flow forecasts and financial reports.
- Identify, manage, and agree variations and compensation events.
- Ensure robust cost control, forecasting, and budget management to achieve target margins.
- Monitor and mitigate commercial and project risks.
- Undertake regular site visits to review progress and performance.
- Review project programmes and develop strategies to avoid delays and maximise opportunities.
- Appoint, manage, and support subcontractors, including contract preparation and payment authorisation.
- Support tender submissions and contribute to pricing strategies.
- Build strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Mentor and support junior team members.
About You
- Proven experience in a Quantity Surveyor role with NEC experience.
- Civils, groundworks or construction experience.
- Strong understanding of contract administration and commercial processes.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and commercially focused.
- Experience working within construction or a related industry.
