Founded in 1897, the Peterborough Golf & Country Club (PGCC) is one of Canada’s oldest continuously operating private golf and curling clubs. The Club features a Stanley Thompson–influenced 18‑hole championship golf course, a vibrant curling program, and an active social calendar. The Director of Golf is a key member of the senior management team, reporting directly to the General Manager/COO. This individual will lead all aspects of Golf Operations, including the golf shop, instructional programs, tournament coordination, staff development, and member engagement. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, business acumen, and a commitment to providing an exceptional golf and member experience.
Responsibilities- Lead, mentor, and develop the Golf Operations team to deliver first‑class member service with professionalism.
- Manage all aspects of the golf shop, including retail operations, merchandising, inventory control, and budgeting.
- Oversee the daily golf operation including tee sheet management, pace of play, tournaments, leagues, and practice facilities.
- Plan and execute member events, corporate outings, and instructional programs that engage all demographics.
- Collaborate with other departments to support an integrated and member‑focused club culture.
- Maintain strong relationships with members through visible leadership, communication, and responsiveness.
- Support ongoing training and certification of golf staff in line with PGA of Canada standards.
- Contribute to the long‑term strategic vision of the Club, ensuring that golf remains a central and differentiating component of the PGCC experience.
- Class “A” Professional in good standing with the PGA of Canada.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in a leadership role at a private or semi‑private golf facility.
- Proven success in retail management, tournament operations, and staff development.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a passion for member engagement.
- Strong organizational and business management abilities.
- Demonstrated leadership and professionalism consistent with the Club’s standards.
- Experience with Jonas or similar club management systems is considered an asset.
Salary $70,000‑$80,000, benefits, staff meal plan, professional development allowance, CPGA Dues and playing privileges.
