The Backyard Golf Company and Clayton Hills Golf Course operate together as a family-friendly golf destination in Cloverdale, Surrey. From a relaxed practice area to a scenic 9-hole par 3 course, we offer a fun, welcoming space for golfers of all ages and skill levels.
Overview
This is a rare opportunity for an aspiring or developing golf professional who wants to learn firsthand how to build, grow, and scale a modern coaching business. You will work closely with Matt Palsenbarg, a full-time golf coach who has built successful junior, adult, ladies, and beginner programs across multiple facilities. With rapid growth planned for 2026, Matt is looking for the right person to help expand programs, develop new initiatives, and grow both their own coaching career and brand alongside his. Our first season at Clayton Hills Par 3 and The Backyard Golf Company launched in 2025, focused on building the foundation. Now, we’re expanding—and this role is key to making that happen.
Responsibilities
- 30% – Direct support to Matt Palsenbarg (coaching, operations, projects)
- 30% – Coaching existing programs (LABSters, Backyard, Clayton Hills)
- 15% – Developing new programs at Clayton Hills & The Backyard
- 15% – Expanding new off-site programs and projects
- 10% – Content creation, branding, and business development
(This is a dynamic, year-round role—responsibilities shift by season.)
Qualifications
- Aspiring or early-career golf professionals (PGM Student)
- Not yet a PGA of Canada member, but planning to join
- Entrepreneurial mindset—self-starters only
- Someone who wants more than “just coaching hours”
- Comfortable on camera or willing to learn
- Strong time management, punctuality, and professionalism
- Values both client acquisition and retention
Compensation
Part-time to Full-time | Hourly + Salary + Commission + Project-Based
Part Time Role - $10,000 - $30,000, depending on hours taught
Full Time Role - $55,000 - $80,000+, based on full time salary, commission, and bonus
