The Assistant Professional Golfer will support the day-to-day operation of the golf facility, delivering excellent customer service to members and visitors while assisting with retail, competitions, golf operations and potentially coaching. The role also allows the successful candidate the opportunity to undertake self-employed coaching activities at their own discretion, subject to operational requirements and facility policies.
Key Responsibilities
Golf Operations
- Assist in the daily running of the professional shop and golf operations.
- Provide exceptional customer service to members, guests, and visitors.
- Manage tee bookings, visitor check-ins, and competition administration.
- Support the organisation and delivery of club events and competitions.
- Maintain professional standards throughout the golf facility.
Retail & Merchandising
- Assist with stock control, merchandising, and retail sales.
- Promote golf equipment, apparel, and services.
- Handle customer transactions accurately and efficiently.
Coaching & Player Development β optional
- Support beginner and junior golf initiatives where required.
- Assist with coaching programmes and club development activities.
- Encourage participation and engagement within the club.
- Self-Employed Coaching Opportunity
The Assistant Professional may offer private coaching on a self-employed basis at their own discretion. Any self-employed coaching must be conducted in accordance with club policies, scheduling requirements, and operational priorities. The individual will be responsible for managing their own coaching clients, bookings, tax obligations, and insurance relating to self-employed coaching activity.
Candidate Requirements
- PGA qualification, currently undertaking PGA training or willing to start the training programme preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for golf and customer service.
- Organised, reliable, and professional in appearance and conduct.
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends.
- Experience within golf operations or retail environment desirable.
