Are you interested in AI and emerging technology? This March, we are launching a groundbreaking new apprenticeship, AI & Automation Practitioner (Level 4). We are looking for passionate, motivated and technically curious candidates to join us as AI & Automation Practitioner Apprentices to support the design, development and optimisation of intelligent automation solutions. This apprenticeship will focus on improving operational efficiency through process automation, AI-assisted workflows and system configuration within a secure, enterprise payment solutions environment. The apprentice will gain hands-on experience across automation technologies, scripting, data handling, systems integration and AI-driven tools while contributing to real business improvements. An AI & Automation Practitioner apprenticeship gives you the relevant skills to be an effective professional and earn a competitive salary at the same time.

Responsibilities

  • Process Automation & Workflow Optimisation
    • Analyse existing operational processes to identify automation opportunities
    • Design, build and test automated workflows using approved automation tools
    • Support implementation of robotic process automation (RPA) and AI-assisted decision logic
    • Monitor and maintain automated processes to ensure performance and reliability
    • Support the implementation of AI-enabled tools to enhance operational efficiency
    • Assist with data preparation, cleansing and structuring for automation and AI use cases
    • Develop basic models or rule-based logic under supervision
    • Evaluate automation effectiveness using performance metrics and reporting tools
  • Scripting & System Configuration
    • Develop and maintain scripts (including PowerShell) to automate system tasks
    • Configure and maintain software platforms in line with business requirements
    • Support secure file transfers and data integrations between systems
    • Assist with database querying (SQL or equivalent) to extract and validate data
  • Infrastructure & Network Support
    • Work with network elements and system components to support automated solutions
    • Assist with environment setup, testing and deployment activities
    • Ensure solutions operate within security and compliance frameworks
  • Operational Support & Incident Management
    • Respond to technical support tickets relating to automation and system issues
    • Troubleshoot automation failures and document root causes
    • Maintain clear documentation of configurations, scripts and workflows
    • Escalate issues appropriately while maintaining service level standards

This apprenticeship is delivered through a combination of work-based learning, online training sessions or face to face sessions. When ready to finish your apprenticeship, you will undertake an end point assessment – but don’t worry you will have plenty of support to prepare for this.
