Location: Hybrid (London & Manchester – on-site required for key delivery phases)

Rate: Up to £450/day (Outside IR35)

Duration: 6-month contract (with potential extensions)

We are seeking a senior, hands-on Technical Network Consultant / Engineer to support a large-scale LAN and WLAN transformation programme across universities. This is a delivery-focused role covering design, build, migration, and live cutovers as part of a transition to a Juniper Mist-managed network environment across multiple UK sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver end-to-end enterprise LAN design, build, and migration activities
  • Produce and own Low Level Designs (LLDs) and configuration standards
  • Lead live LAN migrations and cutovers in production environments
  • Provide technical leadership across multiple concurrent site deployments
  • Support design assurance, build validation, and operational handover
  • Execute site go-lives, including out-of-hours cutovers where required
  • Act as technical escalation point during delivery phases

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong background in enterprise wired LAN delivery
  • Hands-on experience with Juniper EX switching and Juniper Mist
  • Proven experience with LAN migrations and live production cutovers
  • Experience producing LLDs and repeatable build standards
  • Familiarity with Cisco switching environments and migration/coexistence
  • Knowledge of PoE+ and multi-gig Ethernet for modern access networks
  • Experience working across multiple sites or parallel projects

Desirable Experience

  • Juniper EX stacking / Virtual Chassis
  • Campus or higher education environments
  • Cisco ISE / 802.1X / NAC integrations

About the Role

You’ll work in a programme delivery environment alongside project managers and technical stakeholders, taking ownership of technical outcomes across multiple site deployments. Strong communication skills and a proactive, hands-on delivery approach are essential.
