Are you an experienced General Practitioner with a background in custodial healthcare? We have a rewarding opportunity for a dedicated Prison GP to join a healthcare team at a correctional facility in Northampton. This role is ideal for a compassionate and resilient doctor who thrives in a challenging yet highly impactful environment. As a Prison GP, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care to a diverse inmate population, working within a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting consultations, diagnosing, and managing acute & chronic illnesses.
  • \\n

  • Overseeing conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and COPD within the prison population.
  • \\n

  • Assessing and stabilising patients in emergencies, with support from onsite nursing and mental health teams.
  • \\n

  • Leading initiatives to improve inmate wellbeing, including vaccination programs and health education.
  • \\n

  • Working closely with prison staff, nurses, pharmacists, and mental health professionals to deliver integrated care.
  • \\n

Essential Requirements:

  • Substantial experience as a Prison GP or in a similar custodial/secure healthcare setting.
  • \\n

  • NOMS clearance
  • \\n

  • Full GMC registration
  • \\n

  • Strong clinical decision-making skills
  • \\n
