BPM SFX Ltd is a leading provider of special effects and pyrotechnics for live music, touring, festivals and large-scale events across the UK and internationally. Safety is central to everything we do, from concept and design through to delivery on site, and we are now looking for an experienced Health, Safety & Risk Manager to take ownership of our H&S systems as the business continues to grow.
As Health, Safety & Risk Manager, you will be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining robust health and safety systems across all BPM SFX operations. This is a hands-on role that combines office-based compliance with on-site risk management at live events and venues. You will work closely with project managers, technicians, clients, venues and local authorities to ensure all special effects activity is delivered safely, compliantly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and continuously improve BPM SFX’s Health, Safety and Risk Management framework across all projects and locations
- Produce and review risk assessments, method statements, COSHH and event-specific H&S documentation
- Manage and oversee on-site risk assessments, safety briefings and compliance checks at live events and tours
- Act as the main H&S point of contact for clients, venues, production teams and local authorities
- Ensure compliance with UK H&S legislation and relevant industry standards relating to live events, pyrotechnics and special effects
- Support accident, incident and near-miss reporting, investigations and corrective actions
- Coordinate third-party H&S providers and consultants where required
- Support training, competence and certification requirements for staff and contractors
- Maintain accurate records, documentation and audit trails across the business
About You
- Proven experience in a Health, Safety or Risk Management role, ideally within live events, touring, production, construction or a high-risk operational environment
- Strong understanding of UK health and safety legislation and regulatory frameworks
- Confidence operating in fast-paced, live environments and making safety-critical decisions under pressure
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage technicians, production teams and external stakeholders
- Highly organised, detail-focused and comfortable working independently
- Willing and able to travel regularly to sites, venues and events across the UK and internationally
Desirable Qualifications
- IOSH or IIRSM membership (or working towards)
- Experience producing event-specific H&S documentation for live shows, touring or special effects
- Knowledge of pyrotechnics, SFX or live production environments
