Full time, Permanent. Based in Norwich. Wanted – Supervisor/Event Builder - Sport to join an outstanding multi-service brand agency delivering exceptional events and experiences. This newly created role will work within our established Sports Team reporting to the Project Director, Sport and focuses on the interior fit out of corporate temporary structures from design to install.
The role:
- We are very interested in hearing from individuals who ideally have previous experience in the manufacture of premium hospitality spaces within a temporary pre-built structure.
- You will be able to demonstrate an aptitude or have experience in the preparation and building of temporary structures for corporate hospitality events or previous shopfitting experience utilising practical carpentry, painting and finishing skills.
- You will also be experienced with supervising and managing other team members.
- The role will work alongside the Sport Spatial Designers, Project team and the wider Exhibition & Spatial Design team members within the workshop and warehouse environment.
- The role will require the individual to build a full and detailed knowledge of the project requirements along with possessing the appropriate practical skills to ensure excellent build and preparation to deliver project elements from design to installation.
Main duties:
- To manage storage, prep and manufacturing of all project kit by undertaking practical workshop duties such as preparation and building of temporary structures using a full range of tools for carpentry, painting, covering flats and finishing skills.
- To manage daily workloads and workflow for the project allocated workshop team both (full time and freelance).
- To manage daily schedules ensuring all key deadlines are met.
- To interpret and plan the preparation of items from technical drawings and floorplans using specialist knowledge.
- To oversee quality control of all build elements.
- Demonstrate excellence in the Drawing to Load Process by managing and supporting the team to achieve this.
- To attend weekly project delivery meetings.
- To liaise with suppliers and work with the wider Sports team to ensure orders are fulfilled and arrive in good time.
- Manage the inventory and stock items.
- To collaborate with the Spatial designers, Project team and Project director on the most efficient and effective method of construction.
- To manage the loading and unloading of vehicles ensuring kit is protected and checked when dispatched and returned.
- To build and de-rig kit on site when necessary to a high standard and the client's specification.
- Working within health and safety regulations at all times within the warehouse/workshop and on site.
The person:
- Skilled in working from technical drawings to ensure projects are managed through effectively using the most appropriate construction methods.
- Practical knowledge and experience of construction specifically working within temporary structures with good finishing skills.
- Carpentry knowledge and skills would be desirable.
- Experience of overseeing quality control of build elements.
- Ideally have experience of building exhibition stands and event structures.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety practices within a workshop and on-site.
- Ability to participate in loading and unloading of vehicles with frequent heavy lifting of sets and equipment and assisting on site with re-construction tasks.
- Some previous or similar experience of working within a workshop/warehouse.
- Forklift license although training could be provided.
- Good level of IT skills – Microsoft i.e. MS Teams, Outlook, Excel, Word.
- Good multitasker with flexible and pro-active attitude.
- Excellent attention to detail who takes pride in their work.
- Flexibility with working hours as there is some weekend working.
- Driving licence required as there could be some working away on site when required.
- Must be commutable to Norwich on a daily basis.
- An interest in live events/exhibitions and installations.
