As part of their growth, they are now recruiting qualified Solar Electricians to strengthen their installation teams. Ideally QC and SEAI but must have solar experience as a minimum.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out the full electrical installation of Solar PV systems, including wiring panels, inverters, batteries, isolators, and associated equipment.
  • Ensure all work aligns with design specifications, manufacturer requirements, and national electrical regulations.
  • Safely integrate solar systems into building electrical networks and the national grid.
  • Install and commission switchgear, breakers, meters, and protection devices to ensure seamless system operation.
  • Perform comprehensive testing of completed systems, verifying voltages, currents, and performance metrics.
  • Diagnose and resolve wiring issues, faults, or configuration errors before handover.
  • Follow all electrical safety standards, company procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Use PPE correctly and apply lockout/tagout procedures where required.
  • Ensure installations pass all inspections and meet grid-connection compliance standards.
  • Deliver clean, organised, and professional electrical work.
  • Label circuits, tidy cabling, and maintain high visual and technical standards.
  • Document any design changes and communicate them to the engineering team.
  • Conduct service visits, performance checks, and repairs on existing solar systems.
  • Troubleshoot underperformance or faults to minimise customer downtime.
  • Work closely with roofers, installers, technicians, and site supervisors to keep projects on schedule.
  • Coordinate tasks efficiently and support apprentices or junior technicians when required.
  • Represent the company professionally on-site.
  • Explain basic system operation and answer general customer questions, escalating technical queries to project managers when needed.
  • Stay updated on new solar technologies, electrical standards, and installation techniques.
  • Participate in training and contribute ideas to improve safety, efficiency, and installation quality.

Required Qualifications

  • Fully qualified electrician with a recognised certification (e.g., National Craft Certificate in Electrical Installation).
  • Current registration with Safe Electric (REC) or equivalent.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in electrical installation.
  • Solar PV experience strongly preferred (residential or commercial).

Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, wiring methods, and national electrical regulations (e.g., IS 10101).
  • Familiarity with PV components such as panels, inverters, and battery storage systems.

Certifications

  • Safe Pass, Manual Handling, Working at Heights.
  • Additional solar-specific training (SEAI, City & Guilds, NABCEP) is an advantage.

Driver’s Licence

  • Full, clean driving licence with willingness to travel to various project sites on both sides of the border.

Physical Requirements

  • Comfortable working on roofs, ladders, and in outdoor environments.
  • Ability to lift and handle solar equipment safely.
