We are looking for a Junior Race Engineer to join our Aston Martin Racing team and develop your skills in managing the car, drivers and car crews at test and race events. You will work with the Chief Race Engineer to support and run cars in a variety of series with our customer and Prodrive operated programmes. This will also require you to act as a data / systems / performance engineer when requested to help in your development and allow you to learn from the more experienced members of the team to enhance your skill and knowledge levels. You will be tasked with optimising the performance of the car and drivers and be responsible for the technical specification of the race car, while maintaining all running records. Between events you will be tasked with investigating areas of performance development to enhance the quality of our simulation tools and vehicle dynamics software to help push forwards the performance of the Aston Martin GT3 and GT4 products.
Key responsibilities:
- In an effective and timely manner, and in conjunction with the technical staff you will produce build specifications, set up sheets, and all other necessary documentation for all events, whether test or race.
- Conduct analysis and optimisation of the vehicle setup parameters.
- Conduct research into the potential areas of development for the Aston Martin GT cars.
- Issuing technical work lists after sessions (ie. set up changes, specification changes, tyre choice, etc) and after events to ensure cars are prepared in an optimal manner.
- Liaising with drivers on a regular basis on all matters technical as regards the car and team.
- Providing constructive feedback on driving styles to suit the circuits demands.
- Keeping accurate notes, issuing an event report from tests and races, ensuring such reports and notes are filed in such a manner as to make them easily accessible for future reference.
- Keeping a summarised mileage record of all running and have ensure this is available for the Chief Mechanic to use for filing records, etc.
- Planning, performing, and reporting on specific tests, ie. aerodynamic.
