The predicted salary is between 60000 - 80000 £ per year.

We are looking for a Plant Manager to lead and manage all manufacturing operations within the new Birmingham-based Car Build facility, ensuring the safe, efficient and cost‑effective delivery of customer requirements.

This role is accountable for achieving safety, quality, delivery, cost, people and environmental objectives whilst driving a culture of continuous improvement, operational excellence and employee engagement across the site.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all manufacturing operations, including site set up, to achieve safety, quality, delivery, cost and productivity targets.
  • Lead Production area setup (Facilities, floorplan layout, build control plans, tools, measurement systems, process flow/process mapping, process instructions, process capability, launch).
  • Provide day‑to‑day leadership, coaching and development for Team Leaders and Technicians, ensuring high performance and accountability across operational teams.
  • Maintain overall operational control of site activities, ensuring alignment between Production, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance and Supply Chain functions.
  • Deliver operational performance against agreed KPIs, analysing trends and implementing corrective actions where required.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing principles to improve productivity, quality, efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead cross‑functional teams to identify and implement improvements to manufacturing processes, systems and workflows.
  • Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and company policies, promoting a proactive safety culture throughout the site.
  • Ensure suitable risk assessments, safe systems of work and control measures are established and maintained across all operational areas.
  • Ensure compliance with all business management systems and relevant standards, including ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.

Who are we looking for?

Our ideal candidate will have previous experience in a Plant Manager / Production Manager role and a strong background in automotive manufacturing operations within an OEM environment.

You will have demonstrable experience leading teams and driving performance improvements, and proven experience in building relationships with cross‑functional teams.
