We have an exciting opportunity to be part of the Prodrive engine development team to assist in the development and calibration of race and niche road engines and engine components including:
- Engine auxiliary systems
- Chain drive systems
- Valve train components
- Oil systems
- Induction & turbo systems
- Exhaust systems
You will assist track side as Engine Engineer on many different Prodrive products including GT and Rally Raid. Assist with engine and car calibration on niche road car applications and in race engine pool management and engine and team operations track side including engine and chassis calibration.
Key responsibilities:
- To undertake development projects to achieve project engineering objectives including performance and durability goals within tight time and cost boundaries.
- To devise, organise and carry out development tests including but not limited to:
- Engine dyno tests for performance development
- Durability testing
- Calibration
- Production engine signoff
- Torsional vibration studies using high speed loggers and analysis software
- General development of engine systems such as oil systems, cooling systems, exhaust and inlet systems, turbo systems
- Valve train dynamic studies using rig testing / high speed loggers
- Organise other development tests including airflow rigs etc.
Who are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will have proven experience in race engine calibration both on test cells and in-car, along with experience in base engine development within a respected high-end organisation. They will hold a degree in an engineering discipline and be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, remaining calm under pressure. The role requires the ability to inspire and manage technical staff to achieve engine group goals, with determination to meet challenging targets within tight timescales. The candidate should have a strong analytical approach to problem solving, a broad understanding of internal combustion race engine fundamentals, and practical experience with engine calibration on the dyno and in-car. Knowledge of analysis and simulation tools, race vehicle platforms (including Bosch and Cosworth PI/Pectel systems), electronics, CAD systems (ideally NX), and professional test equipment is essential. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a willingness to travel are also required.
